Optimization of the production process of a leading food processing company

Starting situation:

Our customer, a household name in the food processing industry, is specialized in the production of ham and charcuterie, operating successfully worldwide. With a clear focus on sustainability, the company earnestly intends reduce its ecological footprint and make a lasting contribution to climate protection. The existing slaughterhouse is equipped with numerous older machines from another manufacturer.

Challenge:

In order to meet the company’s requirements, an efficient solution had to be found that meets the following criteria: Inefficient work processes were to be improved, and the high consumption of packaging materials needed to be reduced. Existing inefficiencies needed to be reduced. That means the packaging machine will be designed such that it can be used with a single operator without compromising either power or output. To lower the consumption of packaging material, the new solution must be capable of cutting off the bags as near the seam as possible.

Solution:

The GK 612 B vacuum belt machine turned out to be a great solution for operation with a single operator. This machine is compact and requires little space; at the same time, it provides high output that meets the customer’s demands. The individual adjustment of the bag size allowed for reducing plastic consumption significantly. With this, not only the company’s sustainability sees an upturn but the efficiency of the production processes is improved as well. The customer was very satisfied with the implementation of the project.
