From manual work to automated perfection: An efficient packaging solution for our customer in Japan

Initial situation:

Our customer in Japan faced the challenge of having to modernise their previously manual packaging processes. Until recently, their products had been packaged using a double-chamber machine before being transported to the metal detector by hand. This time-consuming and labour-intensive process was not just inefficient, it also led to high personnel costs. The customer was therefore looking for a machine that was not only more powerful, but could also be seamlessly integrated into an automatic production line to allow for a consistent and reliable packaging solution.

Challenge:

The key challenge was to develop a solution that would both increase the production capacity and reduce the space requirements. It was also necessary to ensure that the packaging offered the highest reliability and quality, especially during the sealing processes. Another requirement was the integration of an in-line system for inspection of the packaged products to make the entire process more efficient and to improve quality assurance.

Solution:

With the introduction of the GK 402 B vacuum chamber conveyor belt machine, it was possible to automate the entire packaging process. The new solution impresses with its double-biactive sealing system, which ensures a highly reliable and high-quality sealing result. It has been also possible for the previous production capacity of 12 packages per minute with the rotating chamber to be increased to up to 20 packages per minute.

Another advantage is the compact design of the GK 402 B, which requires significantly less space compared to the previous rotating chamber. In addition, an in-line inspection system has been successfully integrated into the production line, making an immediate quality control of the products possible.

Thanks to this tailor-made solution, our customer in Japan has not only increased the efficiency of their packaging process, they have also saved space and costs. This automation has allowed for a forward-looking optimisation of their entire production process which is perfectly adapted to the customer’s requirements.
