Fully Automated Packaging of Salmon in Colombia
Starting situation:
The company in Colombia imports large quantities of salmon for the distribution of salmon variations and formats optimized for their target markets. Up till now the salmon has been processed by many employees in the company’s own production facility and vacuum packaged in several double chamber machines.
Challenges:
The customer wants to boost significantly the flexibility of production in order to be able to respond better to an increase in demand, e.g. in seasonal business. The company also aspired to automate the entire process chain from beginning to end of the packaging. The goal was to increase production capacity while reducing labor costs and costs for consumables.
Our solution:
The customer invested in a vacuum chamber machine of type GK862B with rolling knife edge for the split belt and complete cut-off as well as a customized height of the sealing bars. So that salmon of all sizes and formats can be packaged fully automatically. Thanks to the corner transfer unit, the belt machine is loaded fully automatically. Supervac implemented the project in close coordination with two other companies whose processes are upstream of the packaging.
