Higher output, reduced staffing: Automated packaging for fresh beef in Korea
Starting situation
The customer is a leading-edge cutting plant in Korea specializing in the processing and packaging of fresh beef. Previously, an older double-chamber machine was used, requiring the packaging process to be carried out largely by hand.
As demands for efficiency and production output rose, the existing packaging solution increasingly reached its limits.
Challenge
The previous packaging technology presented several significant problems:
- Slow and partially manual work processes that limited the production process and packaging throughput.
- High labor costs since multiple operators were needed for the various steps of the packaging process.
- Limited process stability and capacity compared to modern, automated packaging solutions.
The goal was therefore to find a compact, high-performance solution that would largely automate the packaging process while facilitating consistently high output.
Three requirements were pivotal to this: reduced staffing needs, space-saving integration into the existing production area, and maximum process reliability combined with high performance.
Solution
The choice was made for the GK 170 B belt machine – a compact, high-performance packaging solution specifically designed for efficient, automated production processes.
Automating key process steps significantly reduces the need for operator intervention. At the same time, the GK 170 B ensures a consistent, reliable packaging process with high output.
Its compact design offers a crucial advantage: high packaging performance in a small space. This allowed for the targeted modernization of existing production facilities without unnecessarily consuming valuable floor space.
The result: greater efficiency in the packaging process, reduced manual labor, and a high-performance solution for state-of-the-art processing of fresh beef.
