Packaging meat in Switzerland: Optimum presentation and longer durability with the latest shrink tunnel from SUPERVAC
Initial situation:
In a picturesque valley in the heart of Switzerland, the packaging of meat products plays a key role in terms of the quality and attractiveness of regional specialties. One well-known supplier from this region was so certain of the advantages of the new AS860 shrink tunnel that it has put two into operation.
Challenges:
Our customer was faced with the challenge of having to improve the shrinkage results of their products to guarantee the safe maturing of the meat. In tunnels of simple construction, the bags frequently fail to shrink correctly as a result of spray shadows as some parts are not wettened by the water.
Solution:
Correctly shrunk packaging preserves the freshness and quality of the products and ensures that the consumer receives meat which is in the very best condition. The targeted application of heat from all directions allows the packaging to rest closely against the product, preventing air pockets, reducing the volume and presenting the meat in an exceptionally appealing way.
The tight fit protects the meat against dehydration, oxidation and contamination by germs, as the meat juice is retained. This significantly extends shelf life, which is particularly important when it comes to the storage and transport of regional products. The reduction of the packaging material by using bags instead of thermoforming also contributes to sustainability, as less packaging film is required. The close-fitting packaging highlights the freshness and quality of the product and makes it exceptionally attractive to the consumer.
