Packaging of a Wide Range of Ham Products in the UK
Starting situation:
Our customer is a pork cutting plant and ham producer in the North East of London. Fresh meat and ham are supplied both to the catering industry and the retail trade. Customer products are of top quality.
Challenges:
The customer products vary greatly in terms of size and shape; some of them are quite heavy. Everything is to be done with one machine, which demands great flexibility of the vacuum machine. The customer needs a high throughput and top-notch sealing quality. Furthermore, the customer prefers shrink-wrapped packaging to optimize the appearance and shelf-life of the finished products.
Our solution:
To start with, a vacuum belt machine of the type GK 863 B. The products are packaged in bags manually and are placed on the Supervac vacuum belt machine. After the evacuation process, the protruding bag material is cut off and extracted. Then the shrink bags with the products are shrunk by the AT 15 shrink tank.
