Traditional Specialties from the Ardennes Region in State-of-the-Art Packaging

Starting situation:

A long-established Belgian company, famous for its high-quality sausage and ham specialties from the Ardennes region, brings the living spark of that popular region to the customer’s table. For its products, the company has planned fully automatic packaging at one of its plants. The goal is to package long bars cleanly and safely with the lowest possible use of labor.

Challenges:

The ham bars have lengths of about 1,300 mm. They are to be wrapped on a flow pack machine initially and then vacuumed on a suitable packaging machine. The finished products are stored in a warehouse prior to slicing. Complete automation of the vacuum packaging process constitutes a particular challenge.

Our solution:

Owing to its wide range of models, Supervac is able to provide exactly the right solution with the GK 1600 B. Without changing the flow direction of the products after the flow pack machine, the machine can seal hams of up to 1,600 mm. Supervac’s well-known double-biactive sealing method provides reliable seals even on the back seam area produced by the tubular bag machine. The packaging process is stable and fully automatic for the most part; the operating staff has no influence on it.
